Cyberwellness

I will use the computer after I have done my work and have practiced my piano.
I have came across inappropriate content before. I felt scared and I quickly closed the window.
I think the lessons on cyberwellness are useful. I have learnt not to give personal information about myself and other people when chatting online.
I like the comic-story part. It is fun and interesting.

Racial Harmony Day

The theme of this year's RHD is 'Who is our neighbour?'
The ethnic weddings are funny in a good way
I like the Eurasian wedding because it is funny at the kissing part.
I know my neighbors. My neighbors and I buy food for each other.
I do not like my workshop so much because it was quite disgusting.
I ate two satay during recess.
Watching the movie because it was funny.

Back at school

I feel sad about the H1N1 flu situation.

I wish for school to close down so that I would have an extended holiday. I will have more time to play if schools closed down!

There is no one that I know of that got the flu.

My family and I practice good personal hygine to avoid getting the flu.

My trip to Sentosa

Last Wednesday and Thursday, my parents brought me to Sentosa for a 2 day 1 night stay. I would like to share with you my experience at Sentosa...

We arrived at Sentosa on Wednesday at 2pm! I was so excited! I was imagining how the hotel would look like while my father was driving to Siloso beach carpark. Our hotel was near Siloso beach, so my father parked at Siloso beach carpark. After alighting from the car, we went to check in to get our keys at the hotel's reception. Since we could only check in the hotel at 3pm, we went to play first. Our first adventure is about to begin.

Our first adventure was the Sentosa Skyride and Luge. Firstly, we took the skyride. The skyride could go as high as 3 storeys! On the 2nd level of the skyride, there was a camera that will take pictures of you enjoying your ride. By the time we reached the 3rd level, my mother was screaming and crying away. My father and I were enjoying the scenery around us. When the skyride came to an end, my mother heaved a huge sign of relief. After the skyride, came the Luge. Look at the picture on the left - that's my father and I wearing the Luge helmets. We went on the Skyride and Luge for another round. After that, we sat below an umbrella, bought 2 scoops of ice-cream and sat down to relax. By that time, it was 4pm.

We went to check in to our hotel. On my first step in, it looked like the hotel was a haunted house. However, on my second step, it looked like I was in a castle! I lazed around on the bed a while and quickly got up to get ready for the next an adventure.

Our next adventure was the segway. Do you watch the movie called Mall Cop? The thing that Mall Cop rides on is called a segway. I took quite a while to get use to the segway. However, once I got used to it, I found the segway very fun! However, I fell down once on my back side! My mother also fell down while she was trying to get through the narrow path! There was a broad path next to the narrow path but she was just trying to be adventurous. The fastest speed the segway can run is 20km/h! When time was up, I was reluctant to get off the segway. It was 5pm by then. It took us half an hour to walk to Sakae Izakaya, where we had our dinner.

At Sakae Izakaya, we found a table to relax and enjoy our dinner. I wanted Tempura Soba, my mother wanted Maki, and my father wanted sushi in a cup. We also odered 2 bowls of soup as side dish. We also ordered 2 can drinks, Heaven and Earth Green Tea and Sprite. The dinner was scrumptious! :p

After dinner, we went to watch Songs of the Sea. This is a picture of me with the mascot of
Songs of the Sea, Oscar. The Songs of the Sea movie was fantastic! The show is about this princess, Amy who was under a sleeping spell. 2 years ago, an evil witch gave her a drink with sleeping pill in it. So when Lee, one of the actors, accidentally sang a magical song, the song showed a picture of princess Amy sleeping. They had to keep singing the magical song to wake princess Amy. Along the way, they came across a few challenges. They had to sing to help the Lord of fire, Light Lady and Queen of the Sea gain back their power. At last, his sea friends helped him to sing a song, and together, they made princess Amy wake up. When princess Amy woke up, water and fire works were shooting, and that made a beautiful sight. My mother took some pictures of the beautiful water and fire works below. After the shooting of water and fire works, the show ends.

After the wonderful show, we went to sit the Sentosa Skyride and Luge again. This time, half way through the skyride, the skyride suddenlly stopped! My mother was so scared! She was crying so loud that I think if I was sitting at th Skyride behind, I could hear her crying! My father and I were not scared. My father explained to my mother that somone could be having problem getting up on the skyride. After the skyride we went to sit on the luge. Again, I was having a very fun time on the luge.

What a fun day I spent at Sentosa! I felt very tired as I was walking back to the hotel. When we reached the hotel, I immediately went to bathe as I was sweaty and sticky all over. After bathing, I was watching the 9pm show on channel 8 called The Ultimatum and eating potato chips at the same time. After the show has ended, I brushed my teeth and went to bed.

The next day, I woke up with a start. I jumped out of my bed and got ready for breakfast. I saw my mother still sleeping soundly on her bed, and my father was busily brushing his teeth. After everyone was ready, we went down for breakfast. I had sausage bread and two dumplings for breakfast. It was delicious! :p After breakfast, we went to the beach to get some fresh air. This is a picture of me enjoying the breeze at the beach. My father and I played tic-tac-toe with a stick on the beach! Here is a picture of me and my father playing tic-tac-toe. When we were on our way back to our hotel to change, I spotted some bracket fungus! Look at those bracket fugus!

When we reached the hotel, I bathed and we went out again to try the segway again! :-) This time, I rode the segway faster than before. Morever, my mother and I did not fall down this time! :-) Look how happy we are riding the segway! :-)

After, sweating so much, we decided to go to the swimming pool to get a good swim. The swimming pool was 1 storey higher than where my hotel room is. My hotel room was on the 3rd floor, so the swimming pool will be on the 4th floor. I was told that the swimming pool water uses spring water! We spent half an hour at the swimming pool and then came up for a bath. We had to check out from the hotel at 12 noon, so we checked out from the hotel and had lunch at The Arches.

The Arches is a restaurant that was built from a British colonial house. It specialised in western food. I had a plate of mushroom and ham macaroni, my mother had seafood celerobum and my father had seafood mee goreng. The lunch was delicious! After lunch we went to watch the Sentosa 4D Magix and Cineblast.

The show name of the Sentosa 4D magix is called 'Pirates'. It was quite a funny show. In the show you have to wear a special type of spectacles to make the picture look like 3D. The 4D is just the sound. The show is about this captain, called Captain Lucky, brought his men to the Dead man's cave to find treasure. However, Tom, a boy who worked for Captain Lucky before, set a trap to make sure Captain Lucky learns his lesson on not being so greedy. At Last, Tom and Captain Lucky's man work together to throw Captain Lucky into the sea. The show ends like this.

The show name of the Sentosa Cineblast is about an Extreme Log ride. There will be 6 cubicals in the theater. Inside each cubical there will be 6 chairs. Alike 4D Magix you have to put on a special type of spectacles. Then you sit in the chair, and wait for the show to begin. The show is like riding on a roller-coaster. After the roller-coaster ride stops, that is the end of the show.

After these 2 shows, we went for ice-cream. I wanted a honey flavoured ice-cream, my mother wanted a mint flavoured ice-cream and my father wanted a kiwi flavoured ice-cream.

After ice-cream, it was time to go back. While we were on our way to the Siloso Beach carpark, I was thirsty. So I drank some water. This is me drinking water with my father posing beside me.

When it was time to go back, I felt EXTREMELY sad. :-( Boo Hoo Hoo! I would like to go back to Sentosa again...

SA1 Reflection

All the subjects' papers were quite easy, exept for the Maths. I do not think I have done well this semester. My careless factor has led to my poor performance. My high-achievers class were useful. In high-achievers class, Mrs Shanmugam gave the class more challenging work to do. Some of the challenging questions came out in the test paper. Most of the pupils in the class did not manage to solve those challenging questions. I will check my work more carefully after I have done it to make sure I do not make any silly careless mistakes.

Swine Flu

Swine Flu is also known as H1N1. I know that H1N1 can spread like Sars. H1N1 can be spreaded from one person to another if the person breathe in the air or touch the saliva let out by the infected person. Now, our goverment, MOH (Ministry of Health) is encouraging all Singaporeans to excercise caution in travelling, especially if they are travelling to countries affected by H1N1.

The first case of H1N1 started in Latin America, Mexico. As of 4 May 2009, there are
590 confirmed cases of Influenza A (H1N1-2009)
reported in Mexico (with 25 deaths), 226 in the United States (with 1 death), 85 in Canada, 40 in Spain, 15 in United Kingdom, 8 in Germany, 4 in New Zealand, 3 in Israel, 1 in Austria, 1 in the Netherlands, 1 in Denmark, 2 in El Salvador, 1 in Switzerland, 2 in France, 1 in Ireland, 1 in Italy, 1 in Costa Rica, 1 in Columbia, 1 in Hong Kong and 1 in the Republic of Korea. (source: Channel News Asia website)
So far, we are very fortunate that there is no person found with H1N1 in Singapore yet. However, we must not take for granted what we have will always be. We must continue to practise good personal hygiene and be a responsible citizen.

Here is the list of good personal hygienic habits:-
▪ Washing your hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water, especially before touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
▪ Turning quickly away from anyone near you if you are about to cough or sneeze, and do not cough or sneeze at him.
▪ Covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of the tissue properly in the dust bin after use.
▪ Avoiding crowded places if you are unwell and wear a surgical mask to cover your nose and mouth.
▪ Staying home from work or school when you are sick.
▪ Using a serving spoon when sharing food at meal times.
▪ Seeing your family doctor if you are feeling unwell.

(source: MOH website http://www.moh.gov.sg/mohcorp/swineflu/default.aspx)

Last but not least, we have to live a healthy lifestyle so that we will not fall sick easily.

I hope schools and public facilities in Singapore will not close down because of H1N1. I wish Singapore will not be affected by this deadly virus. I will feel very sad if Singapore is infected by H1N1 because people may die due to the deadly virus. Let's all play a part to keep Singapore safe from H1N1.

Kindness

Kindness is a good moral value in a person's character. If a person is kind, it means that he or she has a good heart.
It is important for us to be kind so that we will get more friends.
People show kindness by lending things to others who need them.
I have lent my friends stationerys they do not have or forget to bring. I play games joyfully with my friends and teach them the work they do not know in school
I feel happy to be kind and helpful. When my friends return my kindness with a smile and say 'thank you', it makes me smile.
I would just like to help anyone in need.
By doing the things I have mentioned, that is my way of showing kindness to my friends.

Earth Day

Earth Day is important to me as it will help save the earth.
The phrase 'save the Earth' is trying to tell us to help save our mother earth.
It is important to reuse, reduce, recycle so that we will not waste our natural resources.
I will reuse, reduce, recycle to help save the earth.

Here is a poem I compose for our mother earth.

Earth, earth, earth,
A planet that we love.
Rotating round the sun,
To give us life and shine.
How can we live without you?

Do our part, reuse, reduce, recycle,
And help save our mother earh.
You and me can do it altogether!

International Friendship Day

The theme for this years's international friendship day is about ASEAN.
It is important to have friends from other countries as we can get to know about each others race and religion.
It is important as we will not have anymore riots.
Yes, a lot.
I would like to find out her name, and then talk to each other about what it is like to be the religion she is.

Learning Journey to Farms

I felt happy when I visited each farm.
I learnt how goats are milked, why the female goat's horns must be cut out once they are born and how different types of vegetables grow.
I liked the goat farm best as it was the first time I saw how goats are milked.
I liked all the farms but my least favourite farm was the vegetable farm. The weather was very warm.
I think shelter can be put everywhere around the vegetable farm. Maybe, special type of Japan lamps can be used to give the plants light to grow. The people who mend the farm also gave us fresh vegetable juice to try. However, I did not like the raw taste. To be frank, it was the most horrible drink I had ever tasted in the world. I hope the next time if I were to visit the farm again, I can have fruit juice, instead of vegetable juice.
On the whole, I think this trip was very fun and fufilling. I would recomend this trip to other people. I would also like to bring my family there... but... no vegetable juice please!

Earth Hour

I had heard about many countries planning to take part in this event on the radio. However, I forgotten how many as I was doing homework and listening to the radio at the same time. I was not really concentrating on the radio.
This event is about the world saving electricity to make the earth cooler.
My family and I did participate in this event but we did not turn off all the lights. We left one light on. In our condo, many families did not participate in this event.
My family and I left our chandelier on while we were having dinner. My grandma was eating and watching TV at the same time.
I think it is worth observing as it will make the world a cooler place.

Holiday Is Over!

On Monday, I practice piano, did some theory homework for piano, did some school homework, and play my PSP.
On Tuesday, I practice piano, did some theory homework for piano, and watch HSM3 on my DVD player.
On Wednesday, I practice piano, did some theory homework and play my PSP. In the night, I went for my piano lesson while my grandma went for her yoga lesson.
On Thursday, my part-time helper came to help clean the house. I chatted with my part-time helper, finish all my school work, practice piano, did some theory piano homework and play my PSP.
On Friday, I packed my school bag, practise my piano, did some theory piano homework and play my PSP.
The most interesting thing I did was watching HSM3 on my DVD player. The part of the movie I like most is the deleted scenes part. It was so funny!

Pet's Corner

Assembly show- Indian music.

Who put you in this class - the school or your parents requested for it?
I was the one who wanted to be in this class.
Do you like to be in a music class? Why?
I like to be in a music class because I have learned music since I was 3 and a half years old and I like music sooooooo much.
Are you involved in any music activities, e.g. a band member, an angklung member, a guzheng member, a guitar club member or do you play any instrument on your own?
I was a Anklung member last year. Now, I have quited Anklung. I also learn piano from a private teacher. I learn piano once a week. Now, I am grade 3 for piano.
If you are involved, do you enjoy doing all these? Why?
I enjoy doing all these because learning piano is very fun. I learn how to play a new song every week. I do not quite like Anklung because every time there is a performance for the Anklung group, they will keep calling you out of class for rehersal.
Now you're learning Hip Hop Dance. Do you enjoy yourself? What do you like about this special lesson?
I like the 'games' part and the 'watch movie' part in the Hip Hop lesson.

Total Defence Day

Hi 3.4!I hope you're enjoying your weekend. We commemorate Total Defence Day on 15 Feb. What did you hear at 12:05 on that day? How did you feel when you heard it?Our school organised some events for that day last Friday. What do you think of the activities organised? Which activity or activities do you like - Blogging contest, postcard writing contest, mystery bag activity, or the skit put up by your school friends on stage. Can you suggest some activities that you would like to be carried out for the next commemoration?

On the 15 Feb 12:05 I did not hear the alarm because I was in a shopping centre, Juntion 8. I was to busy looking at the books in Popular bookshop that I did not hear the alarm. I did not take part in any of the competitions too. The skit on stage was quite good, although it was quite lame. I have an idea. We should have a Total Defence Day like a games day next year. Just turn all the games into Total Defence Day games.

Hope my idea works!

Target Setting

Hi 3,4!
We're already half way through the term. I believe all of you have already set your targets for each subject. Please tell me what you have been doing to achieve your target. Do you think you are getting near to your goal?
I would like to hear your views.

Dear Mrs Shanmugam,
I have set my targets for every subject 100 marks. I believe that I can achieve my targets if I work hard everyday. I think I am getting near to my goal.

Happy New Year!

What did you do before the Chinese New Year.
What did you do on the 1st day of Chinese New
Year?//The non- chinese pupils can also tell me how you spent your time
What do you intend to do with all the 'hongbaos' received.
Non-chinese pupils - How do you feel about the festival celebrated by your chinese friends.

I helped my mother to decorate the house with Chinese New Year decorations. I had 2 reunion dinners. My father, my mother and I went to my paternal grandparents' house on Sunday's reunion. The night before, we went to Humble House to enjoy dinner with my maternal grandmother.
On the first day of Chinese New Year, I went to my great grandmother's house to pay her a visit. I brought my PSP along in case I felt bored. I received a lot of of red packets too. I ate many Chinese New Year goodies such as shrimp rolls, sliced BBQ pork and pineapple tarts.

I saved up the money I recieved from the hongbaos. The money are now in my bank account.

School's vision, mission & values

MY SCHOOL VISION:

A school of distinction Nurturing Future-ready Citizens of Character.

I like my school. My school provides us the facilities I like. I enjoy computer lessons the most. I can do my blogging in the computer lab. Computer lessons helps me to learn more about IT. Next time I can work as a IT professional, just like my mother. I also enjoy P.E. lessons. P.E. lessons help me to keep fit.

MY SCHOOL MISSION:

Providing quality education to equip pupils with the values, knowledge and skills for the 21st century.

My teachers teach my friends and I on subjects such as, English, Maths, Chinese, Music, P.E., Health Education, Pastoral Care, Science, Art & Craft and Social Studies every school day. This year, I am responsible for cleaning the white board and AVA. I also take up Chinese Caligraghy as my CCA to help me know more about Chinese language.

MY SCHOOL VALUES:

P - Passion for learning
I - Integrity our foundation
E - Excellence in everything we do

My school values helps encourage us to love learning new knowledge and be honest. We must also try our very best in everything we do.

I believe in my school values. Through passion for learning, I will gain knowledge faster and that will help me be a knowledgable person. Being honest helps to build my moral values. I can then grow up to be a person with good IQ & EQ. To exel, I must complete each task fully and neatly. I will also feel happy to achieve excellence if I have completed the task well.

Last year, I took part in Angklung CCA. The Angklung team tried our best in the Singapore Youth Festival, Angklung competition. We achieved a Silver award for our school. All of us practised very diligently for the competition with the help of Mr. Khamis and Mdm Ong.

I will continue to put in my best effort to achieve top ten in standard, just like the previous years. If I find money in school not belonging to anyone, I will return the money back to the general office.

A few days ago, my teacher, Mrs Shanmugam, let us role play a legend in class. The role play is fun and it helps us to remember the legend better. I think we can also do a role play in class on a story about our school values.

My First Blog

It was so easy and fun! I love creating blogs!
